The project gained significant attention for its community-driven approach and its promise of creating a financial system independent of centralized banking. TIME is the native token originally purchased on exchanges like LBank. When staked, it becomes MEMO (Memory). To increase utility, users can wrap MEMO into wMEMO (Wrapped Memory). Unlike MEMO, wMEMO does not increase in quantity but instead increases in value relative to MEMO, allowing it to be used as collateral on various decentralized lending platforms without triggering frequent taxable events.
Sifu was the pseudonym used by Wonderland's CFO. An on-chain investigation revealed his true identity as Michael Patryn, a convicted felon and co-founder of a major failed cryptocurrency exchange. The revelation led to a massive loss of community trust, especially after the project's founder admitted he had known about Patryn’s past for a month without informing the community.
The Wonderland brand has been retired and officially transitioned into Volta Club in August 2023. The project no longer operates under the TIME ticker for its primary operations. It now functions as a Decentralized Autonomous Organization (DAO) where holders manage the Treasury through the new VOLTA token.
Holders of legacy tokens must follow a three-step migration process. First, stake TIME to receive MEMO. Second, wrap MEMO into wMEMO. Finally, use the Volta Club migration tool to convert wMEMO into VOLTA tokens at a fixed ratio of 1 wMEMO to 330 VOLTA. While formal deadlines were established, the DAO maintains discussions on assisting latecomers through specific migration funds.
During the project's transition, the DAO provided a 'rage quit' mechanism. This allowed users to redeem their wMEMO tokens for a proportional share of the Treasury's stablecoin assets instead of migrating to the new VOLTA token. This was designed to offer a fair exit for investors who no longer wished to participate in the project's new direction following the loss of trust.
