Plastiks is a Web3-based marketplace designed to bridge the gap between plastic recovery projects and entities looking to offset their environmental footprint. It utilizes blockchain technology to facilitate the minting of "Plastic Recovery Guarantees" (PRGs) as NFTs. These digital assets represent a specific quantity of plastic recovered from the environment, providing a transparent and secure method for recyclers to prove their impact and for supporters to fund global recycling initiatives.

The platform fights plastic pollution by providing a transparent funding mechanism for global recycling operations. When companies or individuals purchase "Plastic Recovery Guarantee" NFTs, the funds go directly to verified recyclers. This capital allows these recyclers to expand their physical operations and recover more waste. By turning environmental recovery into a tradable digital asset, Plastiks creates a sustainable financial model that incentivizes the removal of plastic from the environment.

Plastiks prevents greenwashing by recording every recovery claim on an immutable blockchain, such as Celo or Cardano. This creates a permanent, publicly accessible audit trail of all recycling activities. Companies can use these records to provide verifiable proof of their sustainability efforts to regulators and consumers. Because the recovery data is decentralized and tamper-proof, it ensures that environmental claims are backed by actual physical recovery rather than just marketing statements.

The PLASTIK token acts as the essential utility token for the ecosystem, facilitating the minting, listing, and purchasing of recovery NFTs. It also serves as a critical guarantee of payment; a portion of the sale value is held in tokens and only released to the recycler once their physical recovery roadmap is independently verified. PLASTIK is the liquid utility token used for transactions and trading. In contrast, vePLASTIK (vote-escrowed PLASTIK) is obtained by staking and locking tokens for a specific duration. Holding vePLASTIK grants users governance rights, allowing them to vote on protocol changes and project grants. Staking in the stability pool also enables users to earn rewards, with longer locking periods typically providing higher voting power and reward multipliers within the ecosystem.

Users can trade PLASTIK tokens on major exchanges such as LBank, as well as on decentralized platforms like Ubeswap. While the project initially launched on the Celo network due to its carbon-negative properties, it has expanded to include the Cardano blockchain.
