The EQ token is Equilibrium's native utility asset, central to its economic model. Its tokenomics are designed to incentivize participation and drive platform sustainability. Key use cases include pledging EQ as collateral for various DeFi activities, providing crucial insurance liquidity to the system, participating in liquidity farming programs, paying transaction and platform fees, and exercising governance rights to influence Equilibrium's future development and operational parameters.

If you've transferred EQ tokens to another network like Moonbeam or Ethereum, they might not automatically appear in your compatible crypto wallet. To see your tokens, you typically need to manually add the custom token contract address. For Moonbeam, you'd add the xcEQ contract address, and for Ethereum, the erc-20 EQ contract address. This action allows your wallet to recognize and display your transferred EQ tokens.

Staking EQ tokens does not directly generate EQ rewards. Instead, the primary benefit of staking EQ is to enhance and multiply your EQ farming rewards from other liquidity pools on the platform. This mechanism incentivizes users to lock up EQ, contributing to the platform's stability and liquidity, while simultaneously boosting their returns from active participation in Equilibrium's decentralized finance activities.

Your collateral in a borrowing account may decrease if there isn't enough EQ token balance within that same account to cover the interest fees accruing on your borrowed assets. To prevent this, it's crucial to maintain a sufficient amount of EQ tokens in your borrower account. This ensures that interest payments are automatically covered, protecting your collateral from being utilized or liquidated to settle these fees.
