Functionality was not a factor in the decision to convert. It has to do with hiding the trail. According to the prosecution, the behavior satisfies requirements for money laundering and wire fraud. Defendants are not mentioned. According to the allegation, unidentified individuals were in control of the wallets. By tracking wallet-to-wallet transactions, locating exchange touchpoints, and subpoenaing information at the conversion layer, the DOJ's Civil Division and the FBI's Boston field office have developed institutional strength in on-chain tracing. The $3.44 million did not vanish. They located it. The unidentified causes of it are a different issue.<h2>Tether's Position Here</h2>Tether is not a defendant. Not identified. Not involved. However, it is important to comprehend the statistics regarding Tether and law enforcement cooperation.
