ZeroLiquid ETH (zETH) is a synthetic digital asset whose value is pegged to the price of Ethereum (ETH). It is created and issued to users who deposit Liquid Staking Derivative (LSD) tokens into the ZeroLiquid protocol. The primary function of zETH is to enable users to obtain self-repaying loans that bear 0% interest, utilizing their deposited LSD tokens as collateral. A key feature is the elimination of liquidation risk for these loans.

ZeroLiquid ETH stands out due to its innovative mechanism that uses the inherent yield generated from deposited Liquid Staking Derivative (LSD) tokens to automatically service and repay the user's loan. This unique approach means that the loan, denominated in a synthetic version of ETH, and the collateral, which is also ETH-pegged, tend to move in tandem regarding price fluctuations. Consequently, this design effectively mitigates and removes the traditional risk of liquidation for the borrower.

The ZeroLoan module allows users to provide Liquid Staking Tokens (LSTs), or other assets that can be converted into LSTs, as collateral within the protocol. Users can then borrow synthetic assets, such as zETH, at a Loan-to-Value (LTV) ratio of 50% and with a 0% borrowing interest rate. The protocol is designed to regularly collect the yield generated from the user's LST collateral. This collected yield is then systematically applied to automatically repay the outstanding debt.

The peg between zETH and ETH is maintained through an arbitrage mechanism known as the "Valve." If the market price of zETH falls below that of ETH, users can acquire zETH at a discount. They can then deposit this discounted zETH into ZeroLiquid's Valve module, which allows them to claim an equivalent amount of ETH. This arbitrage opportunity creates a demand for zETH when its price dips, helping to drive its value back up towards the ETH peg and reinforce stability.

Users engaging with zETH have several opportunities to earn rewards within the ZeroLiquid ecosystem. One primary method involves providing liquidity for zETH on various platforms, which allows them to earn farming rewards. Additionally, ZeroLiquid has implemented zETH liquidity mining programs. These programs incentivize users for providing liquidity, with the rewards typically distributed and airdropped to eligible users' wallets on a monthly basis, fostering participation and liquidity depth.
