VESPER FINANCE (VSP) FAQ
What is Vesper Finance and how does it function?
Vesper Finance is a DeFi platform that serves as a yield metalayer, designed to simplify the yield farming process. It automatically routes user deposits into various audited strategies, moving funds between decentralized protocols to find the best risk-adjusted yield. By using Vesper, users avoid the need to manually manage their assets across different platforms, as the protocol handles the optimization of yield-earning strategies through its automated vaults.
What is the difference between Vesper Grow and Earn pools?
Vesper Grow Pools are designed for users who want to accumulate more of the same asset they deposit. For example, depositing stablecoins or ETH into a Grow Pool generates yield in that same asset, which is then auto-compounded back into the principal. Vesper Earn Pools, however, allow users to deposit one asset while earning yield in a different asset, providing a way to accumulate a specific token while holding a different underlying balance.
What is the utility and total supply of the VSP token?
The VSP token has a strictly capped total supply of 10,000,000 tokens. Its primary utility includes governance participation and revenue sharing. Users can earn VSP by participating in incentivized pools or by providing liquidity on exchanges like LBank. By staking or locking VSP to receive escrowed VSP (esVSP), holders gain access to protocol governance and a share of the fees generated by the platform's yield-earning activities.
How does esVSP work and where is the yield sourced from?
Escrowed VSP (esVSP) is the governance and revenue-sharing version of the token. When users lock their VSP to obtain esVSP, they become eligible for a portion of the 2% universal fee collected from all yield generated within the ecosystem. Unlike many inflationary models, this yield is funded via open-market buybacks, where the protocol uses its revenue to purchase VSP and distribute it back to esVSP holders.
Who developed Vesper Finance and what security measures are in place?
Vesper Finance was co-founded by Jeff Garzik, a prominent figure in the industry and early contributor to the Bitcoin network. The platform prioritizes security, with its smart contracts undergoing multiple independent audits by top security firms. Furthermore, Vesper categorizes its pools into 'Conservative' and 'Aggressive' risk levels. Conservative pools only interact with established, blue-chip decentralized protocols, while Aggressive pools may explore newer protocols to seek higher yields.
What are the protocol fees and how should long-term holders manage their assets?
Vesper charges a 2% universal fee on the yield earned, rather than the principal. While most pools do not have deposit fees, some may implement a small withdrawal fee to protect the protocol from front-running. Long-term holders should regularly check the official interface, as the platform periodically upgrades its pools. Older 'legacy' pools may require users to manually migrate their assets to the latest versions to continue earning optimized yield.
