uMINT is a tokenized version of a money market fund, issued via a specialized institutional platform. It represents shares in the UBS SG Global Opportunities VCC – UBS Money Market USD Fund. Unlike standard stablecoins, uMINT is a security token representing an investment in a regulated fund. Its value is tied to the fund's Net Asset Value (NAV) rather than being a pegged currency, aiming for capital preservation and institutional-grade stability.

Access to uMINT is restricted to global accredited and institutional investors. Due to its nature as a regulated financial product, retail investors generally cannot purchase it directly. Investors must undergo a rigorous onboarding process via authorized distributors, which includes comprehensive identity verification (KYC), Anti-Money Laundering (AML) checks, and proof of accredited investor status. Institutional products of this type also typically involve higher minimum investment thresholds to comply with regulatory standards.

uMINT is issued on the Ethereum public mainnet. However, because it is a permissioned security token, it does not function like a standard cryptocurrency. It cannot be traded on open, permissionless decentralized exchanges. Instead, transfers are restricted to whitelisted wallets belonging to users who have cleared all necessary compliance and verification protocols through authorized distribution partners.

The underlying fund generates returns by investing in high-quality, short-term, USD-denominated debt instruments, such as U.S. Treasuries and commercial paper, typically carrying top-tier credit ratings. This yield is reflected through price appreciation or a rebasing mechanism. uMINT is primarily used for institutional treasury management and as on-chain collateral. Web3 foundations and treasuries utilize it to earn yield on idle reserves while maintaining high regulatory safety. Additionally, institutional users can employ uMINT as collateral for derivatives trading on supported exchange platforms, bridging the gap between traditional yield-bearing instruments and digital asset markets.

The fund is structured under the Variable Capital Company (VCC) framework in Singapore and is supervised by the Monetary Authority of Singapore (MAS). To ensure investor safety, the underlying assets are held by regulated third-party custodians.
