Technologically, TabbyPOS is designed as an open system with an API that allows it to collaborate with existing local POS enterprises. It operates on a peer-to-peer basis, meaning funds are transferred directly from a customer's wallet to the merchant's wallet. The project does not take custody of user assets, which enhances security and reduces regulatory complexities. The system is multi-chain and supports various networks including BNB Chain, Solana, Aptos, Internet Computer (ICP), Ergo, and others. The project utilizes a utility token often identified by the symbols TABBY or EPOS. This token plays several roles within the ecosystem. Merchants are generally required to hold a specific amount of the token to utilize the TabbyPOS terminal services. Additionally, the token is used to cover fees for withdrawal transactions and functions as the primary unit for the membership reward system. More recent developments have also introduced staking and governance components, allowing community members to participate in the direction of the platform. TabbyPOS has gained recognition within the blockchain industry, receiving grants and support from several major organizations, including the Solana Foundation, the Aptos Foundation, and the Dfinity Foundation (ICP).
