Stride Staked TIA, commonly referred to as stTIA, is a liquid staking token representing staked TIA within the Stride protocol. TIA is the native token of Celestia, which is a modular data availability network. Stride itself is a specialized blockchain, known as a sovereign zone, within the Cosmos ecosystem that focuses exclusively on liquid staking services for various tokens across different chains. The primary function of stTIA is to provide users with the benefits of staking their assets without the drawback of locking them up. In a traditional staking model, when a user stakes their tokens to help secure a network, those tokens are frozen for a set period and cannot be moved or traded. With the Stride protocol, a user can deposit their TIA and receive stTIA in return. This allows the user to continue earning staking rewards while maintaining a liquid asset that can be used in other decentralized finance activities. A key feature of stTIA is its role in the decentralized finance landscape. Because stTIA is a liquid token, holders can use it as collateral for loans, provide it to liquidity pools on decentralized exchanges, or transfer it across different blockchains. This effectively removes the trade off between securing the Celestia network and participating in financial applications. It also allows for more efficient capital usage since the asset remains productive even while earning staking yield. The staking rewards for stTIA are designed to accumulate in real time. Rather than receiving frequent small payouts of the underlying token, the value of stTIA relative to the original TIA token increases as rewards are earned and compounded by the protocol. Users have the flexibility to redeem their stTIA back into the original TIA through the Stride platform, or they can choose to swap it instantly for other assets on supported markets. Technologically, the Stride protocol operates as a minimalist blockchain that does not host its own complex smart contracts, which is intended to increase security and reliability.
