STAKEWISE STAKED GNO (OSGNO) FAQ
What is StakeWise Staked GNO (osGNO)?
StakeWise Staked GNO (osGNO) is a liquid staking token for GNO on the Gnosis Chain. It signifies GNO tokens that have been staked through StakeWise, enabling users to earn staking rewards while keeping their assets liquid. osGNO can be integrated into various decentralized finance (DeFi) applications such as liquidity provision, yield farming, and lending.
How does liquid staking with osGNO work?
Liquid staking with osGNO allows users to stake their GNO on Gnosis Chain without requiring them to operate their own validator infrastructure. Users deposit GNO into StakeWise V3 Vaults and can then mint osGNO to make their staked assets liquid. osGNO is an ERC20 token whose value increases over time as staking rewards accrue, even though the token balance in a user's wallet remains constant.
What are the benefits of using osGNO?
osGNO offers several advantages, including liquidity, allowing tokenized staked GNO to be used in other DeFi protocols for yield farming or lending. Users earn staking rewards from their underlying GNO. It provides flexibility, enabling staking of any GNO amount and choice of staking providers. osGNO is "overcollateralized," meaning up to 90% can be liquid, with the entire staked amount backing it, offering a buffer against slashing. Rewards are also periodically autocompounded, enhancing yield generation.
How do I stake GNO with StakeWise to get osGNO?
To stake GNO and mint osGNO, visit the StakeWise application, connect your wallet, and switch to Gnosis Chain. Select the desired amount of GNO you wish to stake, approve the transaction, and then proceed to stake it. You will receive osGNO tokens in return. Users also have options for one-click staking or depositing assets into a preferred Vault.
What are the fees associated with osGNO staking?
StakeWise V3 implements two types of fees for osGNO staking. First, there's a flat fee of 5% on all staking rewards linked to your osGNO tokens, which is directed to the StakeWise DAO. This specific fee applies only if you mint osGNO. Second, a "Vault Fee" is established by the staking provider, charged on all rewards earned by the GNO staked with them. For StakeWise's own Genesis Vault, this fee is 15% of all earned rewards.
Can I unstake my GNO? How does the redemption process work?
Yes, you can unstake your GNO. osGNO can always be redeemed for the equivalent GNO value it represents within the Vaults. Users can unstake their entire stake, including any accrued rewards, once they burn their osGNO tokens. However, if there are insufficient liquid reserves available for immediate redemption, there might be delays in unstaking and redeeming osGNO for underlying GNO, which could temporarily cause its value to diverge from GNO.
