ROOK (ROOK) FAQ
What happened to the original Rook (KeeperDAO) project?
The original Rook DAO officially dissolved in April 2023 following the approval of proposal KIP-44. This decision was reached after a governance event where a group sought to liquidate the project's treasury. As a result, the DAO’s assets were divided: token holders were provided a specific window to claim their share of the remaining treasury assets, while the development team transitioned into a private entity. The protocol is no longer active in its original decentralized form.
Is the Rook stablecoin or high-yield staking platform legitimate?
Any platform currently promoting a Rook stablecoin or extreme staking yields is highly likely to be a scam. Reports from early 2026 have flagged these sites as fraudulent in various security databases. The original Rook protocol focused on MEV (Maximal Extractable Value) and never functioned as a stablecoin issuer or a high-yield investment platform. Users are strongly advised to avoid connecting their wallets to any suspicious sites using the Rook brand to offer unrealistic returns.
Can I still claim assets from the Rook treasury if I hold old tokens?
No, the opportunity to claim treasury assets has ended. The redemption window for exchanging ROOK tokens for treasury holdings was a one-time event that officially closed on July 12, 2023. The smart contracts utilized for these claims are no longer active. Because the project has been defunct for several years, holding the legacy tokens no longer grants access to any underlying assets or distributions.
Does the ROOK token have any remaining utility?
The original ERC-20 ROOK token no longer possesses any functional utility. Following the dissolution of the DAO, the token lost its governance rights and its connection to a managed treasury. While the token may still be visible on some decentralized trading platforms, it is considered a legacy asset with no active development, support, or use case within the blockchain ecosystem.
How did the original Rook protocol protect users from MEV?
Rook was designed as a coordination layer for MEV (Maximal Extractable Value). Instead of transactions being exposed to the public mempool where they could be front-run or 'sandwiched' by bots, users routed their orders through Rook. A network of 'keepers' would capture arbitrage or liquidation opportunities and then share a portion of those profits back with the user and the DAO. This ensured that the value generated by the transaction was redistributed to the participants rather than being fully captured by miners or validators.
Is the ROOK cryptocurrency associated with the Rook I Project?
No, there is no connection between the ROOK cryptocurrency and the Rook I Project. The latter is a uranium mining development in Canada managed by an energy company. While they share a similar name, they belong to entirely different industries. One was a blockchain-based decentralized finance protocol, while the other is a physical resource extraction project. Researchers should ensure they are looking at the correct entity when searching for project updates.
