Radix is a layer-one distributed ledger technology specifically designed to support the decentralized finance and Web3 sectors. The foundation of the project is a consensus protocol called Cerberus. In this model, digital assets like tokens and NFTs are treated as native, first-class citizens of the network rather than just lines of code within a smart contract. This approach is intended to make development more intuitive and significantly reduce the risk of common security vulnerabilities and hacks. Developers can also benefit from a system that provides royalties for providing reusable code blueprints to the ecosystem. The native token of the network is XRD. It serves as the primary currency for the ecosystem and is used to secure the network through a delegated proof of stake mechanism. Token holders can stake their assets to participate in consensus and maintain the integrity of the ledger. Additionally, the token is used to pay for transaction fees on the network. Radix also focuses on the end-user experience through features like the Radix Wallet. This wallet is designed to provide human-readable transaction manifests, ensuring users understand exactly what they are signing. It also incorporates smart account features and decentralized recovery options to move away from the complexities of managing traditional seed phrases.
