QuStream is a Web3 project developing a Layer 1 blockchain specifically designed to protect digital communications and assets from the threats of quantum computing. The project aims to replace current encryption standards, which are based on Public Key Infrastructure, with its own Symmetric Key Infrastructure. This new framework is built to provide what the project calls Information-Theoretic Security, a level of protection that remains unbreakable regardless of the computational power available to an attacker. The technology behind the project uses 504-bit encryption and a dynamic private key system. Unlike traditional blockchains where a static private key is used for all transactions, QuStream generates a unique, one-time-use key for every interaction. This approach prevents private key reuse and eliminates the single point of failure common in other systems. The project has also integrated its technology into specialized infrastructure designed to solve the last-mile delivery problem for quantum keys, a feat that was showcased in a proof-of-concept with NATO. The QST token functions as the primary utility and governance asset of the network. It is used to pay for protocol services, such as enterprise licenses for quantum-safe security layers. Within the network's Proof-of-Stake architecture, users can stake their tokens to operate encryption nodes or participate in global staking pools, helping secure the decentralized infrastructure. Token holders can also vote on governance proposals that shape the future direction of the protocol. The broader ecosystem includes several specialized tools. QuVault serves as a secure wallet for managing assets with quantum-resistant protection, while the QuStream Authenticator provides a method for identity verification and device authorization. The project also utilizes a sharded infrastructure to ensure the network can handle high transaction volumes without compromising on decentralization. Originally launched as a token on the Solana network, the project is scheduled to migrate to its own native mainnet. At that time, existing tokens are expected to be transitioned to the new blockchain on a one-to-one basis. The project was founded by Adrian Neal, a cryptography expert who sought to create a long-term solution for data integrity in the post-quantum era.
