PrimeLayer is a decentralized Web3 infrastructure project designed to function as a modular Bitcoin Layer 2 solution. The platform is designed to be infrastructure-agnostic, meaning its modular components can be adjusted or migrated to different data availability layers as needed while maintaining Bitcoin as the ultimate settlement layer. Core offerings within the PrimeLayer ecosystem include a decentralized cross-chain bridge that provides a 1:1 representation of Bitcoin, allowing users to use their assets in decentralized applications without losing exposure to the original network. Additionally, the project facilitates the creation of over-collateralized stablecoins backed by Bitcoin. These stablecoins are intended to provide stability within the ecosystem while remaining redeemable against real reserves. The native token for the project is identified by the ticker PRML. Its primary utility involves a yield mechanism centered on network maintenance and liquidity. Emissions of the token are directed toward validators who secure the network. In a feedback loop referred to as a yield flywheel, these validators contribute a portion of their rewards to support liquidity pools on the platform's native decentralized exchange. In return, they receive a share of the transaction fees generated by those pools. This system is designed to incentivize both network security and the expansion of available liquidity. Development of PrimeLayer is led by contributors with experience in Bitcoin-native systems and merge-mining technology. The project operates under a decentralized autonomous organization structure, which oversees the governance and evolution of the protocol. It is currently accessible on the Base chain, providing a familiar environment for developers to deploy existing Ethereum-compatible applications while benefiting from Bitcoin-anchored finality.
