Plume USD (pUSD) is the primary stablecoin within the Plume ecosystem, specifically designed to support Real World Asset Finance (RWAfi). Its core purpose is to provide a stable and liquid medium for various financial operations, including payments, trading, and collateralization across decentralized applications on the Plume network. The broader Plume ecosystem aims to bridge traditional finance with blockchain technology by facilitating the tokenization and utilization of real-world assets, with pUSD acting as a key financial instrument in this endeavor.

pUSD maintains a 1:1 peg with the US dollar by being fully backed by a reserve of trusted stablecoins, primarily USDC. It functions as a direct 1:1 wrapper for USDC. Users can seamlessly mint and redeem pUSD without incurring any protocol fees. The backing assets are managed within a secure BoringVault on the Plume Chain, under the oversight of Plume. All smart contracts involved have undergone multiple rigorous audits to ensure their integrity and secure operation.

pUSD plays a critical role in enabling secure payments, efficient trading, and robust collateralization across on-chain applications within the Plume RWAfi ecosystem. It provides a unified liquidity layer for stablecoin operations on Plume and acts as a gateway for users to access passive real-world yield opportunities from assets deposited into the ecosystem. Plume USD ensures security through its use of BoringVault smart contracts, developed through Nucleus, which have been fortified with multiple rounds of audits by leading crypto security firms. The protocol is engineered for immediate 1:1 convertibility between pUSD and USDC, which significantly mitigates liquidity and redemption risks. Its stability mechanism relies on full collateral backing by USDC on a 1:1 basis, rather than an algorithmic approach. This means pUSD's collateral risk is directly tied to the solvency and liquidity of Circle's USDC. Additionally, Plume integrates Anti-Money Laundering (AML) compliance directly at the chain level to verify users and asset transactions, ensuring regulatory alignment and enhancing overall trust.
