Meta Pool DAO, or mpDAO, is the decentralized autonomous organization that serves as the core governance system for the Meta Pool ecosystem. It aims to promote transparency, inclusivity, and decentralization within the project. Through mpDAO, the community participates in decision-making, proposal approvals, and resource allocation, thereby shaping the development of Meta Pool's liquid staking and decentralized finance (DeFi) solutions. Meta Pool is a multi-chain liquid-staking based ecosystem. It provides liquid staking tokens across various blockchain networks, including Ethereum, NEAR, Solana, and Aurora. This allows users to stake their tokens without locking them up, receiving liquid tokens in return, such as stNEAR, which can then be used in other DeFi protocols for activities like lending, borrowing, and providing liquidity. Meta Pool's smart contracts automatically distribute stakes across a variety of high-performance validators, contributing to the decentralization and censorship resistance of the network. The mpDAO token is the governance token for Meta Pool. Holders of mpDAO tokens can participate in the platform's decision-making processes, influence resource allocation, and approve proposals. The token is available in NEP-141 format on the NEAR Protocol and as a native ERC-20 token on the Ethereum network. In April 2024, Meta Pool approved a proposal for the re-launch and migration of its governance token from the previous $META token to the new $mpDAO token, aligning with a vision for multi-chain governance. Beyond liquid staking, the Meta Pool ecosystem includes features like liquidity pools for liquidity providers, a launchpad for new projects with staking rewards, and a bond market for trading locked positions. Meta Pool also engages in partnerships, such as with QiDAO to enhance stablecoin issuance using mpETH, and with Ref Finance to launch stNEAR pools.
