There are several Web3 projects that use "Meta Finance" in their name or have a token with "META" as its ticker, leading to some ambiguity. The native META token serves several purposes, including enabling the minting of mUSD, facilitating the staking of META/ETH LP tokens, and providing rewards for staking mUSD/2Pool LP tokens. Additionally, META tokens are involved in yield boosting mechanisms for holders of esMETA rewards. This project is relatively new and was launched on the Arbitrum network, with plans for expansion to Avalanche. Another project known as MetaFinance is associated with a parent company that has a long history in the corporate payment sector. This MetaFinance aims to integrate into the blockchain market by introducing a utility token and a DeFi-oriented NFT platform called 'MetaRare'. The tokens from this MetaFinance project are intended to offer discounts to NFT buyers and incentivize users through rewards. A distinct entity referred to as META BSC is characterized as a meme and rewards token designed for the Metaverse. It is described as a community-owned project that distributes rewards in BNB-pegged SHIBA INU to its token holders. This project also features an official decentralized application and aims to integrate into virtual reality applications within the Metaverse. There is also a separate project named MetaDAO whose governance and utility token is also called META. This protocol is undergoing a migration from an older token, METAC, to the new META token. New META tokens can be created through a governance proposal process, which involves a staking requirement and a market trading period before execution. It is important to distinguish these projects from Meta Platforms (formerly Facebook), which has also explored blockchain and cryptocurrency initiatives in the past, such as Diem (formerly Libra) and the Novi digital wallet. However, these past projects were ultimately discontinued due to regulatory challenges.
