Merit Circle is a decentralized autonomous organization, commonly known as a DAO, that focuses on the gaming industry. Its primary mission is to revolutionize the gaming landscape by creating a play-to-earn ecosystem where players can generate value through their gaming activities. Originally started as a scholarship program for specific blockchain games, the project has evolved into a comprehensive platform that supports various aspects of the Web3 gaming sector. The project operates through four distinct branches to achieve its goals. The gaming branch focuses on providing a platform that connects players with opportunities and resources to improve their performance and rewards. The investment branch manages a treasury that is used to invest in promising blockchain games and infrastructure projects. The studios branch is dedicated to incubating new games and creative concepts from within the community. Finally, the marketplace branch handles the exchange and management of gaming assets and non-fungible tokens. A major development in the ecosystem is the creation of the Beam network, which is a gaming-focused subnet built on the Avalanche blockchain. This network serves as the home for many of the project's products and games, providing a specialized environment for developers and players alike. In late 2023, the community voted to migrate the original MC token to a new token called BEAM. This migration was designed to align the token more closely with the project's expanding ecosystem and the launch of the Beam network. In this transition, the utility of the token remains focused on governance and network participation. Token holders can participate in the decision-making processes of the DAO, helping to determine the future direction of the project, treasury allocations, and new partnerships. Within the Beam network, the token also serves as the fuel for transactions and on-chain activities. Merit Circle works with a wide range of partners and games, aiming to reduce the barriers to entry for new players through its scholarship model and educational resources.
