LYBRA (LBR) FAQ
What is esLBR and how can users earn it within the Lybra ecosystem?
esLBR, or escrowed LBR, is the non-transferable governance token of the Lybra Finance protocol. It is designed to incentivize long-term commitment to the ecosystem. Users can earn esLBR rewards by minting eUSD or peUSD, or by staking their LBR tokens. While esLBR cannot be traded immediately, it can be converted back into liquid LBR through a 90-day vesting period, ensuring that reward recipients are aligned with the protocol's long-term health.
What are the penalties for vesting esLBR earlier than the standard 90-day period?
The standard vesting period to convert esLBR to LBR at a 1:1 ratio is 90 days. If a user decides to exit the vesting process early, they incur a linear penalty. This penalty begins at 95% on the first day and decreases by 1% each day until the 90-day mark is reached. The tokens forfeited by those who exit early are typically offered as bounties to other users, who can purchase them at a discount.
Why might a user stop receiving esLBR rewards even if they are minting stablecoins?
The most common reason for rewards stopping is failing to meet the Dynamic Liquidity (dLP) requirement. To qualify for rewards, users must lock a minimum of 2.5% of their total loan value in an LBR/ETH or LBR/stETH liquidity pool. If the value of the user's collateral increases and causes the dLP ratio to drop below the 2.5% threshold, the protocol will automatically stop distributing rewards until the ratio is restored.
What is the difference between the eUSD and peUSD stablecoins?
eUSD is a rebasing stablecoin that earns interest from ETH staking; the number of tokens in your wallet automatically increases over time as yield is distributed. peUSD is the non-rebasing, omnichain version of eUSD. While the balance of peUSD in your wallet remains constant, it still accrues the underlying yield. peUSD is specifically designed for use in decentralized finance protocols across various chains where rebasing tokens may not be supported.
How does Lybra Finance ensure that eUSD maintains its peg to the US Dollar?
Lybra maintains the eUSD peg through two primary mechanisms: the Premium Suppression Mechanism and Rigid Redemptions. If eUSD trades significantly above its peg, the protocol uses accumulated fees to swap eUSD for other stablecoins to lower the price. Conversely, Rigid Redemptions allow any user to exchange $1 worth of eUSD for $1 worth of the underlying ETH collateral at any time, creating an arbitrage floor that keeps the price stable.
How can I acquire LBR tokens and participate in the Lybra Finance protocol?
LBR tokens are available for purchase and trading on major cryptocurrency exchanges, such as LBank. Once you have acquired LBR on LBank, you can use the tokens to participate in the protocol by staking them for rewards or providing liquidity to meet the Dynamic Liquidity requirements. This allows you to engage with the governance of the protocol and earn yield through the Lybra ecosystem's unique interest-bearing stablecoin mechanics.
