Level USD, often referred to by its ticker lvlUSD, is a decentralized Web3 project focused on the creation of a yield-bearing stablecoin known as a liquid restaked dollar. Developed by Peregrine Exploration, the protocol was designed to provide a stable digital currency that generates native yield through decentralized finance mechanisms. Unlike traditional stablecoins that may rely on centralized assets or off-chain reserves, Level USD is fully collateralized by other fiat-backed stablecoins like USDC and USDT. The core technology behind the project involves a restaking process. When users mint lvlUSD, the underlying collateral is deployed into major lending protocols and restaking platforms such as Aave, Morpho, and Symbiotic. This allows the protocol to capture rewards from providing economic security to various decentralized networks. The project aims to offer a solution for users who want to earn staking-related yields without being exposed to the price volatility of major cryptocurrencies like Ethereum or Bitcoin. The project is built with a cross-chain focus, allowing the token to be utilized across various decentralized applications for activities like trading and lending. It also incorporates a staking model where participants can engage with the ecosystem to receive a portion of the generated rewards. The initiative received support from several notable blockchain investment firms, including Dragonfly and Polychain Capital. In the latter half of 2025, the project announced a significant change in its operations. Official updates and technical documentation indicated that the protocol had entered a redeem-only mode. During this period, the team began the process of withdrawing assets from restaking protocols and advised users to redeem their lvlUSD for the underlying collateral. This move marked a winding down of the current protocol version, emphasizing a focus on asset safety and user exits.
