Harvest Finance is a decentralized finance (DeFi) yield aggregator that automates and optimizes yield farming. Users deposit crypto assets into smart contract "vaults" which automatically deploy these funds across various DeFi protocols. The goal is to maximize returns by handling the complexities of moving funds, reinvesting profits, and compounding interest, ultimately saving users time and reducing network transaction fees.

FARM is Harvest Finance's native governance token. Its core utilities include empowering holders to vote on platform proposals, shaping its development and strategic direction. Users can stake FARM to earn on-chain rewards and participate in a profit-sharing mechanism, where a portion of the yield generated is used to buy back and distribute FARM tokens to stakers. Additionally, FARM can serve as collateral in certain lending pools, enabling users to earn interest or borrow assets, and it incentivizes participation within the ecosystem's economic model.

DeFi protocols like Harvest Finance involve several risks. Smart contract vulnerabilities are a key concern; even with audits, bugs or exploits can lead to loss of funds. Users face impermanent loss when providing liquidity in Automated Market Maker (AMM) pools if asset price ratios change significantly. Harvest Finance generally avoids charging direct fees for asset conversion or withdrawal. Instead, the platform implements a performance fee, which is applied to the yield generated by its strategies. This fee is automatically accounted for and already reflected within the Annual Percentage Yield (APY) that users see, providing transparency regarding their potential earnings after operational costs. This model ensures that users only pay a fee when their assets generate returns.

FARM tokens can be traded on various centralized digital asset exchanges and decentralized platforms. iFARM is an interest-bearing variant of FARM, representing FARM staked within the platform's profit-sharing mechanism. This version offers additional benefits such as reduced network transaction costs and enhanced transferability, making it a flexible option for users participating in the ecosystem's rewards.
