STEPN is a Web3 lifestyle application that integrates social and gaming elements to promote physical fitness. The project is built on the Solana blockchain and operates using a move-to-earn model, where users receive digital rewards for being active in the real world. To earn GST-SOL, users must first acquire and equip non-fungible token or NFT sneakers within the STEPN mobile app. Once equipped, the app uses GPS and motion sensors to track the user's movement while they walk, jog, or run outdoors. The amount of token rewards earned depends on several factors, including the type of sneaker used, its specific attributes, and the duration or intensity of the physical activity. Within the STEPN app, GST-SOL serves as the functional currency for nearly all maintenance and progression activities. It is used to repair sneakers that have worn out through use, which is necessary to continue earning. Additionally, users spend the token to level up their sneakers, improving their performance and earning potential. Other use cases include minting new sneakers by combining two existing ones, unlocking sneaker sockets, and upgrading performance-enhancing gems. When these actions are performed, the tokens used are typically burned, or removed from circulation, to help balance the ecosystem's economy. The project operates with a dual-token system. While GST-SOL is the uncapped utility token meant for daily use and rewards, its counterpart, the Green Metaverse Token or GMT, acts as the platform's governance token. This distinction allows the app to separate the rewards for physical activity from the broader governance and decision-making processes of the platform. Developed by the fintech studio Find Satoshi Lab, the project aims to bridge the gap between fitness and decentralized technology.
