Grass is a decentralized data network that rewards users for sharing their unused internet bandwidth. It operates as a Decentralized Physical Infrastructure (DePIN) project, routing a small, permissioned portion of a user's internet connection to vetted partners. Its primary purpose is to facilitate web data access and AI model training, aiming to create a user-owned network where individuals control and profit from their data while advancing AI development through transparent data collection.

Users participate by installing the Grass app or browser extension, which then utilizes their idle internet bandwidth. In exchange for contributing bandwidth, users earn "Grass Points," which are later converted into GRASS tokens. This mechanism transforms otherwise unused data resources into earning opportunities. The network also plays a crucial role in enabling AI development by collecting public data, facilitating its use for training AI models, and making this data more accessible to a wider range of developers.

Grass asserts that it prioritizes user privacy and security. It only permits verified institutions to use unused internet bandwidth for secure activities like price comparison and academic research. The project emphasizes that users contribute only the bandwidth they explicitly allow, not their personal browsing history or private data. To further ensure user data and privacy protection, Grass implements a Data Ledger and employs Zero-knowledge (ZK) processors. These technologies are designed to safeguard user information and maintain anonymity within the network.

Grass Tokens are the fundamental rewards distributed for contributing unused internet bandwidth to the Grass network. They represent a user's direct participation and investment in building and supporting the network's infrastructure. Grass Points, on the other hand, are the rewards accumulated during the project's beta phase. Users earn these points for actively running the Grass app, successfully referring new users, and maintaining high uptime. These accumulated Grass Points are designed to be subsequently converted into the official GRASS tokens during scheduled conversions or airdrops.

The primary method for earning Grass Points is by consistently running the Grass app or browser extension on a stable internet connection. To maximize rewards, users should aim for high uptime with their connection. Additional points can be earned through the referral program: users receive 20% of the points earned by their direct referrals, 10% from second-level referrals, and 5% from third-level referrals. Grass also periodically introduces "Bonus Epochs," which offer further opportunities to earn extra points.

GRASS tokens serve multiple purposes within the ecosystem. Beyond being earned as rewards for sharing bandwidth, they can be traded on various cryptocurrency exchanges, such as LBank. Additionally, GRASS tokens are integral for facilitating transactions and payments within the broader Grass Network. Future utility will include staking and delegation mechanisms, where token holders can participate in determining which routers become operational, thereby directly linking the token's value to the network's physical infrastructure and utility.
