FALCON FINANCE (FF) FAQ
What is Falcon Finance (FF) and what problem does it solve?
Falcon Finance is a decentralized finance (DeFi) protocol that provides universal collateral infrastructure for creating synthetic assets and generating yield. It addresses the issue of users needing to sell assets for liquidity by allowing them to collateralize various assets, including BTC, ETH, stablecoins, and tokenized real-world assets. This enables users to mint USDf, an overcollateralized USD-pegged synthetic dollar, thereby unlocking liquidity without relinquishing ownership of their original assets.
What are USDf and sUSDf?
USDf is Falcon Finance's synthetic dollar, firmly pegged to the US Dollar, which users mint by collateralizing their assets. sUSDf represents the staked version of USDf. When users stake their USDf, they receive sUSDf. This staked version automatically increases in value as the protocol accrues yield from various sources. Staking USDf for sUSDf allows participants to earn diversified yield from the Falcon Finance ecosystem.
How does staking FF work, and what are the rewards?
Staking FF involves depositing FF tokens into the Falcon Finance Stability Pool. This capital serves to absorb debt from liquidated collateralized debt positions (CDPs). In return, stakers receive rewards primarily from two sources: discounted collateral acquired from liquidated positions, and continuous FF governance token emissions. The Annual Percentage Yield (APY) is variable, influenced by liquidation events and token emissions. Locking FF tokens grants users veFF (vote-escrowed FF), which confers voting power in the protocol's governance decisions.
What are the main risks associated with Falcon Finance?
Like all digital assets, Falcon Finance carries inherent risks. These include security vulnerabilities such as cyberattacks, blockchain disruptions, or technical failures. There's also the risk of USDf depegging, where its value could deviate from the US dollar peg due to market volatility, liquidity shortages, or regulatory changes. Smart contract bugs and economic exploits are potential concerns, although the protocol has undergone security audits. Falcon Finance employs risk management strategies, including an on-chain insurance fund, to help mitigate some of these identified risks.
What is the tokenomics of FF?
The FF token functions as the native governance token within the Falcon Finance ecosystem. It possesses a total supply capped at 10 billion tokens. A substantial portion, specifically 2.34 billion tokens (23.4%), was initially unlocked at the Token Generation Event (TGE). These allocations covered ecosystem growth, the foundation, the core team, community airdrops, and investors. The complete token unlock schedule is planned to extend until 2029. FF token holders are granted governance rights, opportunities for staking rewards, and access to exclusive platform features.
How can users acquire FF or mint USDf?
Users can acquire FF tokens by swapping for them on decentralized exchanges or by participating in designated token sales. To mint USDf, users must deposit approved collateral, such as stablecoins, BTC, ETH, or tokenized Real-World Assets, into the Falcon Finance protocol. Stablecoins can be minted at a 1:1 ratio with USDf. However, volatile assets require over-collateralization to ensure the stability and security of the minted USDf.
