Public development for the Essentia project appears to have stalled. The official GitHub repositories for "Essentia One" have not shown significant updates or major commits since late 2021 or early 2022. Due to this lack of technical progress and minimal communication from the founding team, many community members and observers now classify Essentia as a dormant or "zombie" project. The original goal of creating a decentralized operating system and data management framework has not seen documented advancement in recent years.

The project utilizes two distinct assets. ESS was initially launched as an ERC-20 token on the Ethereum blockchain. As the project attempted to transition to its own infrastructure, it introduced ESSX as the native coin for the Essentia mainnet. Users must distinguish between these two because they exist on different networks with unique storage requirements. Managing these assets requires specific technical steps to ensure they are held on the correct blockchain.

The official bridge intended to facilitate the swap between the ERC-20 ESS token and the native mainnet ESSX coin is a major point of concern. Numerous community reports indicate that this bridge is currently non-functional or broken. This technical failure has left many holders unable to move their assets between the Ethereum network and the native mainnet. Holders are advised to exercise caution and verify the status of the migration tools through active community channels before attempting any transfers.

While Essentia previously released dedicated wallet software, its current safety is unverified due to the project's dormancy. Wallets for inactive projects may lack essential security patches or fail to synchronize with the current state of the blockchain. Regarding staking and masternodes, such as the Mercury and Mars tiers, their operational status and ability to distribute rewards are currently questionable. Users should be cautious when using software that is no longer regularly maintained by a professional development team.

ESS is available on a limited number of trading platforms, including LBank. Because the project is considered dormant, users may encounter challenges such as limited market depth when trying to execute trades. It is vital to confirm whether the platform supports the ERC-20 version or the native mainnet version of the token before depositing. Due to the risks associated with micro-cap and dormant assets, thorough research is recommended before any trading activity.

There is currently no updated roadmap available for 2024 or 2025. Most existing development plans are several years old and do not reflect the project's current lack of activity.
