On the legacy Ethereum-based system, ethdydx enables community members to vote on proposals that affect the protocol's development. On the newer native dYdX Chain, the token is used for staking to secure the network, as validators and stakers participate in the proof-of-stake consensus process. Furthermore, the native token plays a role in the distribution of protocol fees and continues to serve as a governance tool for the decentralized autonomous organization that manages the chain.
