COMMUNIS (COM) FAQ
What is the primary purpose of the Communis (COM) protocol?
Communis is a decentralized ERC-20 token designed as an incentive layer for the ecosystem. Its main goal is to reward "good staking behavior." While the underlying protocol rewards users for time, Communis specifically incentivizes those who commit to longer periods—typically 365 days or more—and fulfill those commitments without early termination. It operates as a third-party companion protocol that runs alongside the main system without modifying its original code.
How can users mint COM tokens through the bonus system?
Users with active stakes can mint COM via two primary methods: the Start Bonus and the End Bonus. The Start Bonus is claimable when beginning a new stake of at least 180 days, and it can also be claimed for stakes that are already running. The End Bonus is available for stakes that last at least 365 days. A critical requirement is that the End Bonus must be minted before ending the stake, as the contract must be able to verify the stake's existence on the blockchain.
On which blockchain networks is Communis currently available?
Communis is a decentralized protocol available on both the Ethereum and PulseChain networks. This dual-network availability allows users to interact with the protocol and manage their rewards across both supported ecosystems.
What is the 'End Bonus Debt' system and how does it affect users?
The End Bonus Debt system tracks a user's commitment to the protocol. When an End Bonus is minted, 50% of that value is recorded as debt. To remain eligible for future End Bonuses, a user must maintain a staked COM balance that is equal to or greater than their accumulated debt. This mechanic is designed to encourage users to hold and stake their tokens rather than immediately selling them, ensuring long-term participation in the ecosystem.
Can COM tokens purchased on decentralized exchanges be staked for yield?
No. There is a vital distinction between minted COM and liquid COM. Only COM that is minted directly into a stake through Start or End bonuses is eligible to earn the protocol's yield, which is distributed quarterly. COM purchased on decentralized exchanges or other secondary platforms is considered 'liquid' and cannot be staked for yield. Liquid COM is primarily used to pay down debt or for speculation.
What are the most important rules to follow to avoid losing COM rewards?
To successfully secure rewards, users must adhere to two strict rules. First, the End Bonus must be claimed before the stake is ended; once a stake is closed, the contract can no longer verify the data required to mint tokens. Second, there is a 37-day window following the maturity of a stake to claim the End Bonus. If this window is missed, the tokens can no longer be minted. Additionally, users should avoid unstaking if their balance falls below their debt level, as this will block future bonuses.
