The purpose of this project is to enable users to utilize the stability of the US dollar within the TON ecosystem, taking advantage of the network's high speed and low transaction costs. The project operates through a cross-chain bridging mechanism. When a user wants to bring USDT to the TON blockchain, they lock their original tokens in a secure smart contract on the source network, such as Ethereum. In response, an equivalent amount of JUSDT is minted on the TON blockchain at a one-to-one ratio. This ensures that every JUSDT token in circulation is backed by an actual USDT token held in reserve. Conversely, users can burn their JUSDT on TON to unlock and reclaim their original USDT on the source network. Within the TON ecosystem, JUSDT has historically played a critical role in decentralized finance. It is used as a medium of exchange, a store of value, and a source of liquidity in various applications. Users can participate in decentralized exchanges, lending protocols, and yield-generating activities using the token. It provides a stable alternative to more volatile assets like Toncoin, making it easier for individuals and businesses to conduct predictable transactions. A significant development in the project's history occurred in 2024 with the launch of native USDT on the TON blockchain. Before this official integration by Tether, JUSDT was the primary way to access dollar-pegged liquidity on the network. Following the introduction of native USDT, the TON Foundation and various ecosystem partners initiated a migration process. While JUSDT remains a functional asset for those holding it, the ecosystem has largely shifted toward the native version for better efficiency and direct support from the issuer. It is recognized as a Jetton, which is the standard for fungible tokens on the TON network.
