BasisOS is an AI-driven autonomous agent designed to manage decentralized finance strategies. As an "Agent-Native" protocol, it operates without the need for human intervention or manual rebalancing. The BIOS agent monitors market conditions 24/7, analyzing liquidity and volatility to execute trades. Its primary focus is running basis trading strategies that aim to capture yield from funding rates while remaining market neutral, effectively separating protocol management from traditional human-led decision-making processes.

The protocol utilizes a multi-layer AI architecture comprising a Core Agent Layer for execution, a Supervisory Layer for coordination, and an Environment Layer for blockchain interaction. It employs a "ReAct" (Reasoning and Action) framework, allowing the agent to evaluate real-time market data and adjust leverage dynamically. This autonomous design enables the agent to navigate complex DeFi environments across multiple chains, ensuring the strategy remains optimized without requiring constant human oversight.

Basis trading involves taking a long position in the spot market while simultaneously holding an equivalent short position in perpetual futures. This approach is designed to be market neutral, meaning the portfolio is protected from direct price fluctuations of the underlying asset. Instead of profiting from price increases, the protocol earns yield through "funding fees" paid by other market participants. This allows BIOS to generate returns regardless of whether the market is trending up or down.

Following a security incident involving the Fund of Funds, the Virtuals Protocol team took immediate action by using their own treasury to cover the losses, which totaled approximately $500,000. Refunds have been issued to affected addresses, ensuring community funds remained protected. Since the incident, the team has continued development with a focus on enhanced security, including the integration of advanced data streams and rigorous testing for upcoming expansions to other blockchain networks.

The $BIOS token is the central coordination asset of the ecosystem, used for governance, staking rewards, and "Mindshare Mining" to incentivize community growth. The total and maximum supply is strictly capped at 1 billion tokens.
