AIOS is the world’s first AI Agent Operating System designed to integrate Large Language Models (LLMs) as the core "brain" of the system. Unlike traditional operating systems like Windows or Linux, which are optimized for human inputs and standard software, AIOS is built to handle agent scheduling, context switching, and memory management. This architecture allows AI agents to operate more efficiently within a dedicated ecosystem specifically designed for autonomous processes.

While many AI projects focus on simple "Chat-only" interfaces or dialogue-based bots, AIOS provides a robust runtime environment for "Actionable Agents." This means agents within the AIOS ecosystem can collaborate, interact, and execute complex tasks beyond simple conversation. The project emphasizes agent-to-agent communication and multi-agent coordination, supported by its proprietary kernel and development toolkit, offering a more functional environment than standard chat-based platforms.

The ecosystem consists of three main pillars: the AIOS Kernel, which serves as the base prototype for managing agent resources and scheduling; the AIOS SDK, also known as Cerebrum, which provides developers with the necessary tools to build and deploy sophisticated agents; and AgentHub and AgentChat, which act as the marketplace and user interface for interacting with AI agents. Together, these components facilitate a seamless environment for developing and utilizing autonomous AI entities.

In early 2025, the AIOS Foundation destroyed approximately 66.6% of the total token supply that was held in its own addresses. This strategic move was conducted to enhance transparency and foster trust within the community. These burned tokens are intended to be mirrored as permanently locked stakes once the native AIOS Chain mainnet is launched, ensuring the Foundation's commitment to long-term decentralization and ecosystem health.

The project is led by Founder Yongfeng Zhang and a team of specialized researchers from AGI Research. The AIOS Foundation maintains a high level of academic legitimacy through its collaboration with the Rutgers University Foundation for corporate sponsorships and compliance standards. The project’s technical depth is further evidenced by its active GitHub presence, which has secured over 5,000 stars, and its portfolio of published research papers on artificial intelligence.

Currently, the $AIOS token resides on the Solana blockchain. Users can acquire the token through decentralized exchanges on Solana or via centralized platforms such as LBank. The project's roadmap includes the launch of the AIOS Chain, a dedicated Layer 1 blockchain optimized for AI agents. Once this mainnet is operational, the Foundation will provide a migration path for holders to transition their tokens to the native network.
