Hackers Chase $200K Attackathon Reward to Test XRPL Lending Protocol Security

Ripple and Immunefi launched a $200,000 Attackathon to battle-test the proposed XRPL Lending Protocol, with training underway and a bug-bounty window from October 27 to November 29 2025.

The program aims to surface critical flaws before any mainnet decision, aligning security review with institutional DeFi standards. The contest format concentrates skilled researchers on a single target and ties rewards to verified findings, which can accelerate hardening far more than routine audits. The announcement :

The Attackathon includes an education phase from October 13 to October 27 2025. The active bounty period runs from October 27 to November 29 2025.

Global security researchers are invited, with C++ proficiency emphasized due to XRPL’s stack. Clear timing and open eligibility broaden coverage, while fixed windows keep attention focused.

If at least one valid bug is confirmed during the program, the entire $200,000 pool is distributed according to severity and rules. If no valid bugs are found, a $30,000 fallback compensates participants who submit valid security insights. The structure pays for both exploitable defects and actionable hardening feedback, which preserves incentives even if the code withstands attacks.

The attackathon will prioritize these key issues:

The XRPL Lending Protocol is described as native to XRPL, with fixed-term lending and uncollateralized loan options governed by policy checks.

The design references zero-knowledge proofs (ZKPs) for privacy, compliance signaling, and scalability, and it aims to automate the loan lifecycle from issuance to repayment and reconciliation. Positioning the protocol at L1 seeks lower latency, consistent fee behavior, and predictable settlement for institutional users.

The to a top-tier ecosystem for the real-world assets (RWA) tokenization. The strategic launch of the Ripple USD, following the enactment of the GENIUS Act, has helped the XRPL network compete with top-tier DeFi ecosystems such as Ethereum (ETH), and Solana (SOL).

The XRPL chain has proved it can handle scalable and secure protocols through its previously launched native DEX. As such, the upcoming native lending protocol will unlock low-cost compliant credit to global investors.

Ultimately, the imminent launch of the XRPL’s native lending protocol will enhance the mainstream adoption of XRP. Consequently, XRP’s liquidity will improve over time as its demand increases in the long term. With XRP having a finite supply of below 100 billion, its rising demand will fuel its macro bullish outlook.
