Bancor Governance (vBNT) is the governance token for the Bancor Protocol, a decentralized finance (DeFi) platform. It is generated when users stake Bancor Network Token (BNT), the native utility token of the Bancor platform, into whitelisted liquidity pools. The primary function of vBNT is to grant holders voting power within the Bancor decentralized autonomous organization (DAO). BANCOR GOVERNANCE (VBNT) FAQ

Bancor Governance Token (vBNT) is the governance token of the Bancor Protocol, a decentralized finance (DeFi) platform designed for on-chain token conversion and liquidity. It plays a crucial role in the decentralized governance framework that oversees the protocol's updates and security measures.
vBNT is generated when users stake BNT (Bancor Network Token) in any whitelisted liquidity pool on the Bancor network. It represents the user's percentage ownership of the staked BNT in the pool.
The main utility of vBNT is to grant holders voting rights in Bancor governance. This allows users to participate in decision-making processes, such as voting on protocol upgrades, parameter adjustments, and the allocation of funds from the Bancor community treasury.
Yes, vBNT can also be used in conjunction with the Bancor Vortex. The Vortex allows BNT stakers to swap their vBNT for more BNT, offering an interest- and liquidation-free means of leverage capped at 1.0x. This additional BNT can then be swapped for other tokens or deposited back into the protocol for leveraged yield farming. Additionally, staking vBNT can earn a portion of the fees generated by the Bancor Network.
The Bancor Vortex is a mechanism that allows BNT stakers to leverage their staked liquidity. When BNT is staked, vBNT is minted. Users can then sell this vBNT in the BNT/vBNT liquidity pool for more BNT, effectively taking on leverage. The Vortex is also designed to create demand for buying and staking BNT, and historically, swap fees have been channeled towards purchasing and burning vBNT to create upward price pressure.
The Bancor DAO (Decentralized Autonomous Organization) manages the Bancor Protocols and is composed of BNT token holders and delegates. To join the DAO and participate in governance, users need to stake their BNT or vBNT. A minimum of 25,000 vBNT staked in the governance contract is required to create a proposal on Snapshot. Voting on proposals occurs on vote.bancor.network, and staked tokens are needed prior to a snapshot block to be eligible to vote on active proposals.
